NEWS from FRA!
After breeding alpacas
for15 years and finding ourselves with whiter hair and birthdays in the
mid 70's, we are
regretfully selling all of our herd during 2011. We will retain the 50%
interest in our herdsires for at least one year after all the females
are gone. This will enable us to fulfill all breeding
and contract obligations as they arise for the next year and
allow us to provide the customer service/mentoring that has been a
notable part of our business.
Some of our recent accomplishments: (Remember: we only got to 2 shows
each year!) One of our gray herdsires, TCB
Polaris, took the Blue at the 2010 TXOLAN show. Polaris is a full Peruvian Zephyrus son out of Peruvian
Pecosa (NicNac's dam) At the 2009 ABR Fall Festival Level IV show,
Linus, out of FRA Peruvian Rachel (now owned by Michael Amen and Andrew
McArthur) took the Brown Championship and our own Sinbad of FRA took the
Black Reserve behind a Crescent Moon male. Aladdin placed 3rd in Get of
Sire, also. Our newest rose gray herdsire, Snowmass Enlightenment, took Blue and Reserve Gray
Champion Male at the 2009 AOBA National Show in Cleveland, Ohio. Enlightenment
was 54 months old at the time!!
He also took the Championship at the 2009 Kentucky Classic.
In 2008 we tested all our alpacas, including
those over 10 months old to 15 years old.
We are proud to say that more than 2/3 of our herd tested below 22.5
microns, with some amazing CV and SD results. In 2008, our show alpacas selected
and entered in ABR's Fall Festival in November had an average micron of
18.9 and most were black, gray, and brown!! Two black females took Blue
and went on to win both the Black Female Championship and the Reserve!!
One is the full sister of the 2009 Black Male Reserve Champion at the same
show!

OUR HERD
Our present foundation herd consists of 24 choice breeding females and 5 herdsires, plus the progeny of those females..
LOCATION
Only 1/2 mile off I-25 at Exit 163 between Denver & Colorado Springs at 7352 ft. elevation on 10 acres of pine forest and open pasture, we are conveniently located for farm visits. Turn west at Exit 163, then south on Beacon Lite Rd. to corner of Bricker Rd. Turn right , then left into our drive. Contact us to schedule an appointment.
OUR BREEDING PROGRAM
In order to produce alpacas for sale with exceptional colored fiber, correct conformation and complete coverage, we are breeding deeply-colored quality Peruvians, Bolivians and Chileans with our multiple-Champion medium fawn sire and a bay black full-Peruvian male with a 20.4 micron at 2.5 years old. We also send out at least 1/3 of our females for breeding to other well-known sires. We prefer solid-colored alpacas, as we feel that will be the most commercially valuable fiber when the American herd becomes large enough to sustain a viable alpaca fiber industry.
Our crias represent all groups on the ARI color chart, with fiber that has excellent fineness and soft handle, and outstanding coverage from nose to toes. The many ribbons and championships from the few AOBA shows we attend reflect the quality of our program.OUR SALES PROGRAM
We sell and ship breeding-quality alpacas across the USA. All of our alpacas for sale have been tested for BVD and almost all adults have antibodies against the disease. Because of our small acreage, each year we have sold 17-20 alpacas in an active sales program. See our Males and Females sales lists for up-to-date listings, prices and packages.
Many of our alpaca sales are packages and time-payment plans. We're glad to work with you on terms that fit your budget and make it possible for you to enter the alpaca business or add quality to your existing herd. We will gladly put together sample herds based on your choice of color and other criteria.
